Strong centres.
Stronger futures.

ECDLink gives township early childhood development centres the compliance, supply, funding and training systems that larger institutions take for granted. One network, built so that no principal has to do it alone.

About ECDLink

The work behind the classroom door.

Most early childhood development centres in South African townships are run by people who are excellent with children and left entirely alone with everything else. Registration files, municipal inspections, supplier prices, funding deadlines, payroll, reporting.

ECDLink exists to carry that second job. We build the operating layer underneath the centre so that the practitioner can stay where the value actually is, in the room, with the children.

Compliance

Registration, inspections and record keeping handled by people who know exactly what the department asks for.

Procurement

Nutrition, cleaning and learning supplies bought at network scale and delivered on a fixed monthly schedule.

Funding

Documents, budgets and centre profiles prepared so that funders receive a file that is complete on day one.

Training

Practical sessions for practitioners and principals, built around the realities of a township classroom.

What we do

Six systems, one network.

Every service is designed to be used on its own or stacked together. Centres choose what they need now, and add the rest as they grow.

Registration and compliance

A clear gap assessment, then hands on support until your centre meets health, fire and departmental requirements.

  • Compliance gap audit
  • Inspection preparation
  • Policy and register pack

Procurement and supply

One monthly order covering food, cleaning and classroom consumables, priced through the collective buying power of the network.

  • Fixed delivery schedule
  • Network pricing
  • Audit ready invoices

Funding readiness

We prepare the file before the funder asks. Budgets, profiles, motivation letters and the evidence that backs them.

  • Document review
  • Funder ready budgets
  • Submission follow up

Training and development

Quarterly sessions covering child development practice, safeguarding, administration and centre leadership.

  • Practitioner workshops
  • Principal coaching
  • Template library

Network membership

Centres stop working alone. Shared knowledge, shared suppliers, shared advocacy, and a line to call when something breaks.

  • Advisory line
  • Peer network
  • Member pricing

Centre operations

Systems for enrolment, attendance, staffing and reporting so that the centre runs the same way every single week.

  • Operating systems
  • Reporting rhythm
  • Staff structure
How it works

From assessment to stability.

A predictable sequence, run the same way at every centre so that progress is measurable rather than anecdotal.

We assess the centre 01

We assess the centre

A structured walkthrough of compliance, finances, supply and staffing, with nothing glossed over.

We fix the gaps 02

We fix the gaps

Documents, policies and registers are put in place, and the outstanding items get owners and deadlines.

We connect the supply 03

We connect the supply

The centre joins the monthly procurement cycle and stops paying single site prices for everything.

We keep it standing 04

We keep it standing

Ongoing advisory, training and funding support so the progress holds long after the first quarter.

The founder

Mandla Nelson Khumalo

Founder and lead

Mandla founded ECDLink after years of watching capable early childhood development centres held back by paperwork, supplier costs and funding processes that were never designed with them in mind.

His approach is deliberately unglamorous. Get the file in order, get the supply chain honest, get the funding submission complete, and then repeat it across enough centres that the whole network gains leverage it could never hold alone.

Something not covered here? Send us a message and we will answer honestly, including when the answer is that we are not the right fit.

Any early childhood development centre in South Africa, registered or not yet registered. A large part of our work is helping unregistered centres become fully compliant.

No. Each package stands on its own. Many centres start with compliance or funding readiness, then join procurement once the basics are in place.

You confirm your order before the monthly cut off, we buy at network volume, and your supplies are delivered to the centre with an itemised invoice.

No one can guarantee a funding outcome. What we can do is make sure your application is complete, credible and submitted on time, which is where most centres lose out.

It depends on the starting point. Centres with most documents in place usually move within weeks. Centres starting from zero should plan for a few months.

Our office is in Sandton, Johannesburg, and we work with centres across the surrounding townships and wider Gauteng region.

Your centre should not have to build this alone.

Join the ECDLink network and get the compliance, supply and funding support that lets your team focus on the children again.
